In the spirit of all that is Orwellian, the Committee of 100, aka the US Senate, has passed the Telecom Immunity Bill which will make it a whole lot easier for ATT and its friends to spy on every phone call, web page, email and so on that you make because now you can't sue them for violating your privacy. You may remember that Presidential stooge, er, candidate, Barack Obama, was being excoriated by his leftie supporters because it was rumored or something that he was going to vote for the bill as is...now we find out that he was one of the 32 or so that wanted the immunity part cut out of the bill. Very cagey, that Obama...now the left can't excoriate him anymore because at "least" he "tried" to stop the avalanche into totalitarianism. However, he still voted for the bill! But lo and behold, that other leech, McCain, didn't even bother to vote on it! That way, he can save his BS image as "maverick" (which, of course, the a--holes at XM Radio's "America Right" et al, even those who actually support the doofus [few will admit it, claiming he's "too liberal"!] will tell us is true until everyone's blue in the face) as he didn't "support" this fascist bill. Fascist, as in corporations controlling the government...that is what the classical definition of fascism is, no? But just before you think I'm all upset over this, don't worry, and neither should you be. I keep intimating that "the revolution" won't be televised, and now it won't be phoned, e-mailed, or broadcast over the Internet, either. Good, because this "revolution" shouldn't be to begin with. Ron Paul won't be running this one, and the US Constitution, which is the Paulian watchword, won't be the founding document of it. This one will be through individuals and small groups of individuals, the "revolution" THEY can do nothing to stop. |

Actually, this topic of telecom immunity was not what I was going to write about...it just came up this morning in my "alternative news aggregator" perusing. I was going to do some sort of "Fourth of July" thing to say that as bad as it looks like it's going to get here in the good ol' US of A, liberty-wise, it is getting just as bad or worse everywhere else. Freedoms appear to be disappearing by the minute here. But to be more optimistic, the freedoms we still have are pretty remarkable considering 1) this country is an empire in serious decay--that fact usually brings out the more police state instinct in a "representative democracy," the will of the people pretty much ceasing to exist; 2) our government is run, lock stock and barrel, by crooks and psychopaths; 3) the last two presidential elections were stolen; 4) a foreign country pretty much runs our foreign policy; 5) another foreign country pretty much controls the outcome of our economy; 6) DHS would like to force all airplane passengers to wear slave bracelets; 7) the MSM pretty much refuses to inform us of anything important, all the while prattling on about how Americans don't want to know about the lies of our government, but want to know more about the doings of Britney Spears, et al, something every poll of American attitude on media tells us is not true; 8) this destruction of freedom began sometime around 1913 with the advent of the Federal Reserve and WWI, which means THEY'VE had nearly 100 years to destroy freedom in this country; 9) we've had around 100 years also of PC groups from the left and self-righteous Dominionists from the right telling us how to live, what to think, and what to say or not say for our own good, from Prohibition to Hate Crime Laws (funny, those advocating Hate Crime Laws would, if they could, turn them against all Arab- and Muslim-Americans. I just read an article about how Japanese-Americans are starting to get concerned again! Michelle Malkin, who supported internment for Japanese-Americans, and Abe Foxman, who never met a true Christian he didn't consider a hate criminal, know of whom I speak! After which, they will turn them against all true Christians. Read about the Talmud here as well as here sometime.); 10) then you have the BS environmentalists trying to end freedom because of "global warming." Either that, or carbon tax us to death. I suppose I could go on, but "ten" is usually my limit... Anyway, we are losing freedoms, but we still have more freedom than most, if not all, others, and the biggest reason for that is because we have the right to bear arms without a license. Take that, Norway! You, too, "happy" Denmark! |

While many Americans think this country is one step away from utter totalitarianism, folks, we have NOTHING on Orwell's native land, Britain. I went to England (as well as Wales) in the summer of 1970 as part of a student exchange type program held at Sussex University, and stayed with a local family. Amazingly, this family was, I thought, more affluent than my family was...their house was huge! My friend I went with had relatives in the Greater London district of Hackney. I was expecting a sort-of slum. Nothing of the kind! The high-rise (terrace type) council dwelling was a nice, albeit a bit cramped, four room flat. (Note: Hackney today is a hell-hole, mostly inhabited by immigrants and what are called "yobs", gang youth). So even the working-class types lived reasonably well. In other words, England exceeded my expectations. That has all changed, and I blame the beginning of England's descent into hell-hole-dom on, first, Maggie Thatcher, who almost single-handedly destroyed the coal and shipbuilding industries in Tyneside and the rest of Northeast England (Read Peter Hitchens' "The Abolition of Britain"), and of course, Tony Blair and now Gordon Brown, under whose tutelage Britain is exceeding Orwell's wildest nightmares. Read about how Britain's state schools are nothing but social engineering projects. That Britain's "Big Brother" surveillance systems cost 40 billion dollars. How toddlers who don't like spicey food are considered racist. How adults are becoming scared to be near children and adults are being tested for pedophilia. About how pub goers can no longer wear hats and how folks on street corners are harrassed for having their hands in their pockets!. Gun control is among the strictest in Europe. Surveillance cameras are everywhere in Britain, even in the countryside. Hate crime laws are also much stricter in Britain, yet hatred of Muslims there is much more pervasive than it is here. True, Brits are more socially liberal and sexually more progressive, but is that, under the circumstances, a good thing? Along with this of course is their mocking of Christianity and their Darwinian/Huxleyan/Wellsian/Frankfurt School "scientific" socialism, ie. social engineering. (Wells wrote "Time Machine" about a bifurcated society in the distant future of Eloi vs. Morlock, both groups controlled by an Illuminati-like secret group of controllers living underground; Huxley (Aldous, that is) wrote "Brave New World" about another controlled society mostly made of up slave-like, moronic gammas, deltas and epsilons hopped up on "soma"...but Huxley also wrote a treatise on 1920s English upper- and middle-class society, featuring the rantings and ravings of a Fabian Socialist character, much like Huxley himself, called "Point Counter Point", a very interesting novel). In any case, along with the infamous Bertrand Russell, these people totally wanted to socially engineer British society. Boy, have they succeeded! Folks, if you ever get discouraged about the direction of America and American society, cheer up and know we are far better off here than they are in Britain! In fact, it just might even be better here than "freedom loving" Canada!. |

Let me turn the reader on to some nifty articles I have read over the past week or two. Speaking of drugs, if you want to know why so many Americans appear to be apathetic about preserving liberty, understand that prescription drugs may have something to do with it. In one hour of television watching, with about ten commercials per five minute commercial spot, about 25% of the commercials are for prescription drugs! Half of these drugs are anti-depression and mood altering drugs like Paxil. Then you have drugs for "restless leg syndrome"! Painkillers everywhere. I know people who take five or more medications a day, usually more than once a day. I know folks who are homeschooling solely because the state school told them their child had ADHD when in fact these children were bored senseless, and might have been forced to have their child take Ritalin. So, is it any wonder than America leads the world in illegal drug use? Then, in honor of the great comedian, George Carlin, who died recently, I offer this You Tube video, linked here, called "America: We Like War". Then there is this piece on Cracked about "proof" that humanity is "doomed," including the infamous Milgram experiment (discussed in every college Psych 101 course ever given). Ever wonder what famous movie best expresses US foreign policy over the years? Turns out The Godfather comes pretty close. Tom Hagen is the diplomatic approach; Sonny Corleone plays the neocons, and Michael plays the realist and multilateralist. Of course. Is there much difference between the Federal government and the Mafia? In the "Would You Believe?" category is the fact that 71% of Americans oppose taking sides in the Israel-Palestinian conflct (and I figure that of the other 29%, 2% are Jews, 2% are Muslims or Arabs, and the other 25% are Christian Zionists or other charismatic fundies waiting for "the rapture"). Then you have What Americans Think About America. There is also this outstanding explanation by Doug French of what makes American tick when they vote: it's all based on emotion and personal bias, because it doesn't cost a thing. Thus, people didn't vote in the primaries for Obama because he's black; for Hillary because she's a she; for Ron Paul because he's too intellectual and the media said he's a "whacko"; for McCain because he's a bald, old, and has a sick sense of humor (which I agree, he does--now he wants to kill Iranians by selling them more cigarettes); for Edwards because of his $400 haircut; for Kucinich because he looks like a turtle and believes in UFOs; for Romney because he's a Mormon and his nickname is "Flip"; for Huckabee because either he's a religious wacko or because he's from Bill Clinton's hometown; for Giuliani because he dresses funny and has a name which reminds people of the Mafia; for Fred Thompson because they don't want another actor in the White House; for Bill Richardson because he's Hispanic...yadda yadda yadda. Issues have nothing to do with the way people vote. Don't forget to check out Greg Palast's really neat article about how despite everything, America is still the best place there is, (the piece that inspired this post)...not bad for a rabid leftist! Finally, if you haven't read The Virtues of Disorganized Resistance yet, please do so. |
