The Limits of Trusting Your Neighbor: Plus: You Either Seek the Truth, or You Don't |
In the previous newsletter I made a case for practical "community action" with your neighbors, even if you have to resolve conflicts to do it. If there is a crisis, folks you don't want your neighbors against you as well the rest of the world (you can read "the authorities" into this if you want). But that doesn't mean giving him the key to your house, meaning your stored food, water, crisis supplies, and giving him license to take as much stored gasoline as he wants! Or letting him use your computer! It means being in a position to work with neighbors to get through whatever crisis hits. |
Ideally you want the kind of neighbor we have, a former Libertarian Party guy who ran for some office years ago on the LP ticket, and a guy who knows Ron Paul: someone who you don't have to worry about sneaking onto your property when your gone as long as he knows you won't do the dame thing. Someone you have an unspoken understanding with. So what if you have neighbors who are busy bodies? We are not talking suburbia here, but we are not talking farms, either....six people per square mile stuff. We are talking subdivisions that happen to be in rural areas outside (usually) small towns. This one here encompasses about a seven miles radius and has about 50 full time families/individuals. Even so, there are those people who live in the more flat valley spots that are surrounded with neighbors (as opposed to us...we bought our place in a box canyon up higher, in a place where it would be unlikely to have neighbors on either side). |
However, if you must buy land in very flat and desirable locations, a consequence might be that you will be surrounded by neighbors who might be live and let live or who might be busy bodies and gossipers, or who might want to borrow every tool you have and then you have to literally threaten to sue the guy unless he returns it. I never said you would escape jerks if you moved out to the country! Plus you might find one fine day that you have new neighbors...with six kids, seven dogs, eleven cats and fifteen clunkers sitting out on their front lawn...er, grassy areas by the road. Might remind you of one of my favorite "Simpsons" characters: "Some folk'l never eat a skunk, but then again some folk'l, like Cletus the slackjawed yokel..." |
So. If you get those kinds of neighbors, don't try to sue the SOBs or do what someone did out here: put out the eye of the neighbor's goat. What you are going to have to do is go up to the head of the household and reach an understanding. Don't go saying what he "ought to do" without some sort of compromise yourself, just because you've been "out here" for twenty years and he is the new guy. If the neighbor cats are pooping in your garden, don't kill the critters, because cats are cats and that is what cats do. Cats ain't dogs if you know what I mean. Deal with it. Take out that gun and shoot it in the air, not at the cats. Maybe you can convince the neighbors to do whatever is possible to keep the cats in their property. Barking dogs? Noisy kids? Unsightly clunkers? Develop an understanding, and rue the day that you bought that flat place in the valley knowing you might someday have a bunch of neighbors surrounding you! |

That "shoot it in the sir" technique also works to get rid of wildlife you don't want to contend with. Works well with mountain lions. But it also works with "invasive species." Oaudads, native to Africa and looking like big horn sheep, have become a big problem for ranchers because they eat the brush and grass that cattle would and thus are cutting into the cattle food supply, plus they attract mountain lions and the like. Out here in the mountains, folks started noticing this past year that we had coyotes, and that my hubby had to take out his gun and shoot it in the air two weeks ago when we heard the yipping and the yapping. I mean, coyotes in the mountains? But it turns out that, according to a nieghbor, in 2006 a mother coyote and her two pups came up the main creek here from the ranch lands down the creek, and simply have moved in, period. No telling how many there are out here now. Yet I imagine that they'll have to move further up the creek eventually. Lots of food for the lions coming there way! |

I assume you have heard that Obama czar Jones decided he didn't want the job after all, but (assuming he was asked to quit or be fired), was it supposedly because he sought a new investigation into 9-11, or was it some other reason? In fact it amazes me that so many in the mainstream media, as corrupt as it is, get all bent out of shape when soneone says "there needs to be a new investigation into 9-11." It is getting to the point, I hope, where yelling "conspiracy theorist," instead of being like yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater, is more like yelling "fire" at a homecoming bonfire. Are we reaching the point where we have the Little Media Smartass crying "Conspiracy Theorist!"? And these idiots are doing it at a time when more and more Americans are questioning the official version of 9-11? Can anyone believe any media (left or right) darling going along with calling tea party goers "fascists" and town hall protesters "brownshirts" and anyone who questions Israel's persecution of Palestinian Christians (not to mention babies, grandmas, and toddlers, and your average Palestinian Muslim) "anti-semitic" and if you don't like Obama you are "un-American"? Folks, can folks like Keith Olbermann make themselves any more irrelevant? |
Well, that goes for the entirety of the mainstream media. When they can't get away with not reporting the truth, period (for instance, that one of the reasons Congress wants to force health insurance down our throats is because they are heavily invested in health companies, or that one of the reasons lawmakers want to force H1N1 shots down our throats is because they have invested in Baxter and the rest...have you seen "V for Vendetta" yet?), they spew hatred and shout "conspiracy theory" whenever they have to report something because they simply can't hide it. Now it is said that most Americans STILL get most of their news from television mainstream media like CBS or NBC or CNN or FOX. But here is the kicker: no one that I talk to or e-mail communicate with or fellow-post-comments on message boards even seems to be to be someone who trusts the mainstream media. Not even my mother-in-law...who is a retired nurse, has spent her life trusting doctors and the health care system, who said to me the other day that they want to force these shots on us to reduce the population (not her words; she used far more colorful language) and control our lives. I am waiting for another "V for Vendetta" moment: the Chancellor (or, actually, his double) is speaking on the TV but no one is listening because they are all out protesting, marching on Trafalgar Square (I think) as Evie is about to send the train in to blow up Parliament. |

Nor should you trust the alternative media, who has spewed out all sorts of nonsense about 9-11 and other events for the purpose of making "9-11 Truthers" and others out to be wackjobs. Such as AntiWar.com's Justin Raimondo did recently. Does Alex Jones yelling and screaming into a bull horn or microphone stuff like "9-11 was an inside job" or "the government is getting ready to round us up into FEMA camps" inspire confidence that he is telling the truth, when he and his sidekick Bermas yell "anti-semite" when callers bring up his Jewish connections, as if having Jewish connections makes you out to be a booga booga that you have to go on the defensive crying "anti-semite" about! On the other hand, does Mike Rivero, who claims to be Jewish, inspire confidence when he blames Israel for every evil that happens in this world? Well one could say he ain't half as bad as Eric Hufschmid! By the way: none of these folks (except maybe Jones, who claims to be "Christian" but you know how that works!) believe in God, nor Christ, and all of them think the Bible is a fairy tale...Old Testament and New Testament. To heck with believing the Word of God. They'd rather believe the word of man, regardless of how most people lie through their teeth every day, especially those with some sort of power who have to keep secrets and commit cover-ups. Now, if Alex Jones wants to believe that a cabal of bankers, freemasons, Bilderbergers are actually going to succeed in imposing their BS (and doomed to fail) "new world order" on us "slaves," then he can believe it. But when he spends millions of dollars creating films, because so many pay this guy to tell them what to believe, that spread nothing but fear and doubt and sell the notion that a few rich guys (and not God) are in control and the only way we can stop it is to do what Alex Jones tells us we have to do...folks, the only way you are going to know the truth is to keep on seeking it, trusting no one except for those who know the truth because they did the event. I'd like to know where Jones was on 9-11? Was he at the WTC, the Pentagon, Shanksville, Pennsylvania? How does he know all about 9-11? I'd rather believe folks who partook in the terror training exercise held on 9-11 and who know why the FAA and NorthCom didn't intercept these planes than Jones, just like I'd rather believe former CIA agent in Afghanistan George Criles ("Charlie Wilson's War") when he says that "al Qaida" grew from CIA funded and Pakistani ISI trained mujahadeen fighting the Russians, rather than those who say "al Qaida" is funded by Saddam Hussein, and just like I'd rather believe the former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharref, when he told CNN that Osama bin Laden is dead, as well as former President, the late Benazir Bhutto, who says in the video he is dead. than any media person who keeps on saying the man is alive just to further a nefarious agenda. |
